SUMMERCONCERT ‘74

The 'forgotten’ Popfestival in the Netherlands aka 'SUMMERCONCERT 74' took place on July 18, 1974 at the Gemeentelijke Sportpark Hilversum with bands like Earth & Fire (NL), Alquin (NL), John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra (USA), Tim Buckley (USA), The Doobie Brothers (USA), Van Morrison (did not perform because of an incident) and The Allman Brothers Band (USA) - also pictures of the ‘surprise’ appearance of the Amsterdam Hells Angels during the Doobie Brothers show.

The Summerconcert ‘74 with over 20.000 visitors was only 2 days before the very first Knebworth (UK) 1974 festival on 20 July with almost the same international line-up e.g. Mahavishnu Orchestra, Tim Buckley, The Doobie Brothers and The Allman Brothers Band.

Interesting to mention that the Allman Brothers played their very first gig outside the USA at this festival on the 18th of July 1974 in Hilversum, The Netherlands.
